Australian Water Dragon
The Australian water dragon is a remarkable reptile found near rivers, creeks, and lakes in eastern Australia. With a distinctive crest running down its back and a long, muscular tail, this lizard is perfectly adapted to both land and water.
Water dragons are omnivores, feeding on insects, small vertebrates, and vegetation. They are excellent swimmers, using their tails to propel themselves through the water. When threatened, they often dive into the water and stay submerged for several minutes. Despite their resilience, habitat destruction and urbanization threaten their natural habitats.
