Sri Lankan Leopard
The Sri Lankan leopard is a subspecies of the leopard, endemic to the forests and grasslands of Sri Lanka. Slightly smaller than its mainland relatives, it has a beautiful golden coat covered in rosettes. As the apex predator in Sri Lanka, it plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. These leopards are solitary and territorial, preying on animals such as deer, monkeys, and wild boar. Habitat destruction and human-wildlife conflict are significant threats to their survival, and they are currently listed as endangered.
